A training day of two halves, split as above. Still felt pretty destroyed from yesterday when I headed out (my suspicions were first aroused when I found walking to the kitchen difficult first thing), but an elongated gentle spin around the countryside worked wonders for both my tanlines and untightening my leg muscles. However, I then probably ruined all this good work by doing the return leg at great pace, fuelled by the cyclist's best friends: rage and hunger (I'd had one pack of biscuits and a slice of cake all day). The A40 is wonderful to cycle on at weekends - on the way back, I got to Denham roundabout at 22.2mph (which just shows how much speed the London section scrubs off, because I was riding like a maniac through Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Southall, Hanwell and Ealing too).
Then made the stupid mistake of heading to Tesco to stock up on food, only to discover that I'd left my bloody card in my saddle bag. So two packets of noodles and 4 pints of milk have had to suffice.
Exactly 80 miles for the day, so over 160 for this most sunny of weekends.
