High Wycombe C.C. Open 10

Bike: Trek
Distance: 10 miles
Time: 23 minutes 49 seconds
Average speed: 25.192mph

29th out of 93. Results.

A very good Friday! Virtually no wind, few problems with the course and legs turning nicely. Knocked 17 seconds off my personal best, which has pleased me immensely! The secret to my success was a vat of coffee consumed beforehands: the Coffee Republic lady in Ealing shooed me away because I'd leant my bike against her window; so I went to Starbucks instead and for £1.79 got virtually a pint of coffee.

So, 48 miles for the day: 10 miles 'warm up' (including getting to Knowl Hill from Maidenhead station), 10 miles race, and then 18 miles 'cool down' which I did at 18.3mph. I'd forgotten that hot weather equals speed, and it's beautiful out. It's nice to suddenly appreciate, rather than curse, the breeze!

Sadly, I don't think I'll get an improvement tomorrow in the ECCA 10, on the Bottisham 10 mile course outside Cambridge. My best time on this to date is, I think, 26:25. If I can beat 25 I'll be happy!
