aha!

As I became increasingly self-conscious about my lazy eye over the past few years (not looking at people when I spoke to them, wearing sunglasses a lot), my friends reassured me "It's not that noticeable!"

But now the truth is coming out! A certain Italian friend of mine emails:

"I am really looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, I can't imagine you with two straight eyes."

Perhaps now I am no longer a walking freakshow (well, not in terms of my eyes anyway) my friends will all vanish like the morning mist :(
